Privacy
This explains what I collect when you use this site, why I collect it, who else sees it, and how long I keep it.
What I collect
When you place an order: your name, your email address, your postal address if it is being posted, and what you bought.
When you use the contact form: your name, your email address and your message.
When you browse: nothing that identifies you. My host keeps its own server logs, which include IP addresses, as every web host does.
I do not take cards. Payment is by Interac e-transfer, which goes through your own bank, so I never see your bank details.
Why I collect it
To fill your order, to send it to the right address, to reply when you write to me, and to keep the records a business is required to keep. That is all. I do not use it for marketing and there is no mailing list.
Who else sees it
- Canada Post receives the name and address on the parcel.
- My web host stores the site and its database.
Nobody else. Your details are never sold, rented, traded or shared for advertising, and I have no advertising partners to share them with.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies. There is no analytics, no tracking pixel and no advertising network on any page.
Your basket is kept in your own browser's local storage so it survives you closing the tab. It holds only which items you picked and how many. It never leaves your device until you place an order, and clearing your browsing data removes it.
The fonts are served from this site rather than from a font network, so no other company is told which pages you looked at.
Keeping the forms clear of robots
To stop automated abuse, the site records a one way scrambled version of the network address a request came from, to count how many requests it has made in the past hour. It cannot be turned back into an address and it is discarded within the hour.
How long I keep it
Your name, email address and postal address are deleted 24 months after your order is complete.
The order record itself is kept longer, because the Canada Revenue Agency requires business records to be retained. What stays is the order number, what was in it, what it cost and when. Your personal details are removed from it.
Contact form messages are deleted once the matter is dealt with.
Your rights
Under Canadian privacy law you may ask me what personal information I hold about you, ask me to correct it if it is wrong, and ask me to delete it. Use the contact form and I will answer within thirty days.
If you are not satisfied with how I have handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
This shop is not aimed at children and I do not knowingly collect information about anyone under the age of majority. If you believe a child has given me their details, tell me and I will delete them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version appears on this page with a new date at the foot. The version that applies to your order is the one that was here on the day you ordered.
